This 1970 Pontiac GTO convertible was first delivered to Admiral Pontiac of Glen Burnie, Maryland, and is powered by a 400ci V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. The car was refinished in burgundy under previous ownership, and Judge graphics and an airfoil rear wing were also added. Equipment includes a black convertible soft top, 15″ Rally II wheels, a body-color Endura front bumper, quad headlights, a Ram Air-style hood, power steering and front disc brakes, front bucket seats, a center console, air conditioning, and an Alpine stereo. This GTO convertible was acquired by the selling dealer in 2024 and is now offered with a dealer invoice copy, a reproduction window sticker, and a clean Washington title.
The car was refinished in burgundy under previous ownership, and an airfoil rear wing and “The Judge” graphics were added. Exterior equipment includes a power-operated black convertible soft top, a color-keyed Endura front bumper, quad headlights, black-textured grille inserts, a Ram Air-style hood, and quad exhaust outlets. Paint cracks and other imperfections are shown in the photo gallery. The seller notes that a piece of the soft top needs to be reattached.
The 15″ Rally II-style wheels are mounted with 245/60 front and 255/60 rear BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. A full-size spare is located in the trunk. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
The cabin houses front bucket seats with headrests and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl, while faux woodgrain trim accents the center console and engine-turned trim accents the instrument cluster. Amenities include a padded dashboard, a center console, air conditioning, an Alpine stereo, and aftermarket speakers mounted underneath the dashboard.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer flanked by a combination gauge and a tachometer. The five-digit odometer shows 84k miles, approximately 20 of which were added under current ownership.
The replacement 400ci V8 was installed under previous ownership and is equipped with a single four-barrel carburetor and polished valve covers.
The engine code YZ is shown above, which corresponds with a 400ci V8 for use with an automatic transmission. The non-matching partial VIN sequence stamp in shown in the gallery and begins with “28Z”, which indicates: Pontiac (2); 1968 (8); Fremont, California-made (Z).
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a three-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission.
