This 1979 Volkswagen Type 2 camper was refurbished under previous ownership and was listed on BaT in April 2022 before it was acquired by the seller later that year. Finished in Avocado Green over tartan cloth upholstery, the van is powered by a 2.0-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes Bosch fuel injection, KYB shocks, front disc brakes, 14″ steel wheels, black bumpers, a right-side sliding door, a pop-up roof tent and sleeping platform, a cabin heater, a swiveling front passenger seat, rear bench seating that converts to a bed, a removable table, a pull-out camp kitchen, and a Boss Elite touchscreen infotainment linked to a custom sound system. This Type 2 shows 18k miles and is offered with service records and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The bus was refinished under previous ownership in Avocado Green with a color-matched pop-top roof tent. Exterior details include black-finished bumpers and trim, dual side mirrors, and rear mud flaps.

Body-colored 14″ steel wheels wear black trim rings and VW-stamped hubcaps and are mounted with General Grabber A/T tires. The suspension features KYB Gas-A-Just shocks, and stopping power is provided by front discs and rear drums.

The forward cabin houses bucket seats trimmed in tan and green tartan cloth, the right of which swivels to face the rear. Appointments include a cabin heater, a removable center console, crank windows, and a Bluetooth-capable Boss Elite touchscreen infotainment system linked to a custom sound system.

The right-side sliding door opens to reveal a pop-top roof tent with a sleeping platform as well as inward- and forward-facing bench seats that fold into a bed, LED lighting, a stowable walnut table, and sliding side windows.

The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 90-mph VDO speedometer and a fuel-level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 18k miles, approximately 4k of which were added under current ownership.

A pull-out Trail Kitchens camp kitchen featuring a sink, a two-burner stove, and sliding prep surfaces is positioned at the rear.

The 2.0-liter flat-four features Bosch fuel injection. Work in January 2022 reportedly included changing the distributor rotor and cap, ignition wires, spark plugs, and several exhaust components, while work under current ownership consisted of re-torquing the cylinder heads, replacing the valve cover gaskets, and overhauling the EGR system. The most recent oil change was performed in April 2024.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. The right axle was recently replaced, and the clutch is said to have been replaced in 2025.
