This 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL was acquired by the seller on BaT in May 2024, and over $10k of subsequent work included servicing the transmission and replacing the water pump, accessory drive belts, valve cover gaskets, lower ball joints, shock absorbers, upper control arms, rear axle seals, and assorted steering components. Finished in Signal Red over black leather upholstery, the car is powered by a 5.5-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. It has a limited-slip differential, a replacement black soft top, a removable hardtop, silver-finished 15″ Gullideckel alloy wheels, fog lights, an alarm system, electric windows, central locking, cruise control, and a Bluetooth-capable Blaupunkt head unit. This R107 is now offered with a window sticker, owner’s manuals, service records, a hardtop stand, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean Colorado title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in Signal Red and features a color-matched removable hardtop and a replacement black convertible soft top. Additional features include quad headlights, fog lights, a power antenna, and chrome-accented bumpers and trim. A paint correction was performed in July 2023, and the taillight seals were replaced in October 2023. The hardtop seals have also been replaced. Silver-finished 15″ Gullideckel alloy wheels are mounted with Hankook Optimo H724 tires, which are said to have been fitted in 2018. The brake fluid was changed and the brake rotors, pads, and front sensors were replaced in June 2023. Work under current ownership included replacing the center drag link, one of the outer tie rod ends, lower ball joints, upper control arms, front and rear shock absorbers, and the rear axle seals.
The cabin features two bucket seats upholstered in black leather along with a matching center console and door panels. Interior amenities include an alarm system, electric windows, central locking, and cruise control. The Bluetooth-capable Blaupunkt head unit and JBL Audio dash speakers were installed in July 2023. The air conditioning does not blow cold, the right-side mirror adjuster is inoperative, and there are cracks in the top of the dashboard.
The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 170-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel economy, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 95k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership. The Carfax report lists a mileage inconsistency in a September 2022 entry, and the SRS warning light is illuminated.
The 5.5-liter V8 was factory rated at 227 horsepower and 279 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Maintenance in the spring of 2023 included a coolant change and replacing the thermostat, distributor, battery, alternator belt, air filter, and fuel pump, accumulator, and pressure regulator. Additional work following the seller’s acquisition included replacing the water pump, accessory drive belts, and valve cover gaskets along with the transmission pan gasket.
The window sticker lists initial delivery to European Imports LTD in Albuquerque, New Mexico, along with factory equipment, colors, and a total suggested retail price of $62,990.
A body-color removable hardtop is included in the sale along with a stand and a cover.
The Carfax report shows the aforementioned mileage inconsistency. The car most recently passed a Colorado emissions inspection in August 2024.
