The Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV has got a new AMG line trim in India. Priced from Rs 1.40 crore (ex-showroom), the GLS AMG Line is available with both petrol and diesel engines. It brings AMG-specific exterior and interior cosmetic updates, but remains mechanically unchanged. Mercedes claims it has sold as many as 16,000 units of the GLS in India till date.

The GLS 450 AMG Line costs Rs 3 lakh more than the regular petrol variant, while the GLS 450d AMG Line costs an additional Rs 1 lakh over the regular diesel variant.
Mercedes GLS AMG Line: exterior, interior updates
On the outside, the GLS AMG Line comes with sportier looking from bumper with larger air intakes, the wheel arch cladding is painted in body colour, as are the side sill panels (on the regular GLS, this is finished in black). The rear bumper also gets a sportier look with a diffuser-like insert finished in black along with a thin chrome strip.
On the inside, the most notable highlight is a new AMG-spec steering wheel with the twin-spoke design. The pedals also get a new stainless steel finish and there are new floor mats with AMG lettering as well.
Mercedes GLS AMG Night Package
Customers can now also spec the GLS in Mercedes’ Night Package which brings a blacked-out treatment for the wing mirror caps, window line trim, roof rails and the 21-inch alloy wheels. The 4-slats on the grille also get a dark chrome finish, and on the inside, the dashboard comes draped in black leather upholstery.

Mercedes GLS AMG Line: powertrain options
Under the hood, the GLS AMG Line retains the 3.0-litre inline-six petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine produces 381hp and 500Nm, while the diesel engine produces 367hp and 750Nm; both engines come mated to a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, sending drive to all four wheels.
Mercedes-Benz Q1 FY2026 sales results
Alongside this launch, Mercedes has announced its sales results for the first quarter of FY2026. The German carmaker sold 4238 units in between April-June, recording a 10 percent YoY growth. As ever, sales continue to be strongly driven by its top-end vehicles which grew by 20 percent YoY in between April-June. Meanwhile, Mercedes’ EV sales grew by 157 percent YoY with strong demand for the EQS SUV.
