Fernando Cabral de Mello named CEO of Sony Music Entertainment Brazil

Sony Music Latin Iberia has announced a new organizational structure for its operations in Brazil, where the company’s operations will now be led by Fernando Cabral de Mello as CEO.

According to the official announcement, the company’s new “unified” structure in the market will encompass Sony Music Brasil, Som Livre, and will also oversee the company’s joint venture with CTS EVENTIM, all of which, Sony says, will continue to operate independently.

Sony Music acquired Som Livre, owner of Brazil’s biggest domestic record label, in 2021 in a $255 million deal.

Sony formed a JV with ticketing and live entertainment company CTS EVENTIM in 2016 under the EVENTIM banner to provide ticketing services in Brazil. (Sony teamed up with CTS EVENTIM again in 2023 to acquire two ticketing firms in South America via a joint venture).

According to Sony, in his new role, Cabral de Mello is responsible for driving the overall strategy, “streamlining” operations, and leveraging the combined resources and expertise across these business units to enhance efficiency and seize emerging opportunities”.

He reports to Afo Verde, Chairman and CEO, Sony Music Latin Iberia.

Fernando Cabral de Mello is described by Sony as “a seasoned music industry executive” with over 25 years of experience.

He joined Sony Music in 2005 and has held various leadership roles, including his most recent post as Executive Vice President, Business Development for Latin Iberia.

Sony says that Fernando Cabral de Mello has been instrumental in the success of numerous global superstars”.

In addition to his work in music, Cabral de Mello has played a key role in the growth of CTS Eventim in South America.

Additionally, he has led the Premium Content division for Sony Music Latin Iberia, overseeing the development and production of documentaries, films, television series, and more
