Michael Bibi has returned with “Sungazing (Electronic Mix),” his first release since his battle with a rare form of cancer.
The influential DJ and Solid Grooves founder revealed in December 2023 that he was cancer-free after fighting CNS lymphoma, which attacks the central nervous system and is categorized by malignant cells forming in the brain and spinal cord. Writing on social media, he called his new single a “miracle.”
“A song I started before being diagnosed with a brain tumour,” Bibi said, “eventually gave me the strength to carry on fighting with the vision of surviving, in order to be able to see it be released one day.. that is now becoming a reality. It’s a miracle.”

That narrative weight is impossible to separate from the sound of “Sungazing.” For an artist who has long packed UK warehouses and Ibiza clubs with sweat-soaked house beats, the track feels deeply personal. With radiant guitar flourishes and soulful vocals from Alexa Sunshine Rose, it’s the sound of someone who’s been through it and come out the other side a little softer but no less resilient.
While many producers manufacture depth through sampled platitudes, Bibi’s life-altering experience infuses authentic gravity into his production. The track’s dynamic progression reads as an audio document of his medical journey and subsequent return to massive stages at Coachella and his record-breaking “One Life” show in London, the largest electronic show in the city’s history.
“I dreamed of that show while in the hospital,” Bibi said. “Seeing it happen was one of the most beautiful moments of my life—now being able to give back with this music release is another milestone in my healing process.”
